Steven’s work and studies have been as an Actor, Director, Writer and Workshop Facilitator over the past fifteen years.

He graduated from Reading University with a degree in theatre studies and BETC National Performing Arts at Barking College.

He spent one year in-between his studies with Theatre Resource, a Community Theatre Company based in Ongar, Essex as part of his additional training to work under Community Theatre, Youth Theatre, Theatre in Education and Arts Residency.

His acting stage credits have taken him to work with Unicorn Children’s Theatre, Tandem Theatre, Deafinitely Theatre and Graeae Theatre/Suspect Culture. His TV Credits also include BBC 2 ‘Switch’ and Channel Four ‘Rush’ series. He was one of the co-founders of Deafinitely Theatre, the first professional, Deaf-led theatre company.

His professional theatre-directing debut came in March 2004 with Deafinitely Theatre’s production, work in-progress play called ‘Dysfunction’ at the Oval House, which was later developed into a full-length script under the direction of Steven again at Soho Theatre in July 2006, followed by a National Tour in November 2006. After leaving Deafinitely Theatre on mutual terms, he strongly felt there was still a huge gap in the Deaf Theatre industry.

He co-founded DRoots Theatre with David Ellington and Jodee Mundy in April 2007. He have written a new play ‘Shotgun Wedding’ which hopefully will be shown in 2010, he is also currently writing another new play ’Damien’ for 2010 February. His additional job has taken him to work Reading University, Bulmershe Campus as part time Sign Theatre lecturer.
